Vegan Mermaid Princess Fairy Smoothie for Kids

Ever since Mia stopped breastfeeding at 18 months old, she has been OBSESSED with smoothies. By obsessed, I mean it is the first thing she thinks about when she wakes up in the morning. She is 2 years old and still asks for hundreds of "doosies" per day. She drinks about 3 smoothies a day. I vary what I put in them so she isn't having the same thing and don't always use store-bought plant milks. A lot of the time I just add more oats and use filtered water which gives that milky finish. I throw in all types of veggies too, carrots, kale, beetroot, cucumbers and lots of different fruits, nuts and seeds. If you are doing a chocolate smoothie, it masks flavours even more so you can fill it with all kinds of things!

Mimi is obsessed with mermaids at the moment so this is her "mermaid doosie" but was previously her "princess doosie" when she was a princess fanatic. Bella is only 5 months old at the moment but it won't be long until she wants "doosies" too!

I just think this is an amazing idea for any boys or girls who need encouragement for eating meals. Call it whatever you want! Trust me, no judgement here. We even make a "poopy doosie" in our household. Whatever you call it, we hope that your kids love these as much as ours do! Enjoy! *sprinkles mermaidy fairy princess dustiness*.

200ml plant milk
200ml filtered water
1 overripe banana
1 pinky-sized piece of fresh raw beetroot
1/2 tablespoons nuts/seeds
1 tablespoon rolled oats
3 dates

  1. Blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy.
  2. Serve immediately and enjoy!

  • You could call this smoothie: mermaid, princess, fairy, barbie, spiderman (if you add more beetroot) smoothie etc...
  • Pour any leftovers into icy pole moulds and enjoy later on a warm day!
  • Leftovers can be sealed and stored in the fridge for one day.
