Vegan Healthy Chocolate Crackles Recipe

Mmmmm chocolate crackles! It is like the most stereotypical party food in the world but is seriously still the most delicious! The chocolatey-ness and the crunchiness go so well together... but normally they are made with sugar and copha which isn't good for your lovely little body. So, here in the wonderful world of Veggieful, we have created a healthier version of chocolate crackles! They are more delicious, easier and VEGAN! Woo woo woo. I would say that I hope you love them as much as we do but I know that you will love them... there is no doubt in my mind! Enjoy your crackly goodness!

makes 24

   1/3 cup melted coconut oil
   1/3 cup cocoa
   1/3 cup maple syrup
2 1/2 cups rice bubbles (brown, white... your choice!)

  1. Place the melted coconut oil, cocoa and maple syrup into a bowl and whisk until combined. If it doesn't combine properly, try slowly heating it while stirring until it has combined.
  2. Pour in the rice bubbles and stir until the rice bubbles are coated.
  3. Divide the chocolate crackles between 24 mini patty pans or 12 normal patty pans.
  4. Refrigerate or place in the freezer until set.
  5. Once set, place in a sealed container in the fridge to avoid them from going stale and soft.
  6. Enjoy!!

    1. You could use copha, it is just a low quality coconut oil in a block

  3. Hi Kara... Unfortunately no, the coconut oil solidifies after melting so that is what makes it set together.

  6. Had a lovely time with my friend making these chocolate crackles! Although they are vegan and a "healthy" version they taste like how I remember the ones from my childhood. So so good I want to eat the whole tray!! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. It just proves you can enjoy healthier versions of things as much as the original. They are AMAZING :)

  9. I am stuck at home with a sick baby - haven't been out to the shops cos it's too cold to bother - and I had a massive sweets craving! I had some gross knock off Rice Bubbles and a massive jar of coconut oil - so I put both products into Google and up came your recipe! I usually find Chocolate crackles a bit gross when you're just chomping on solid copha - but the coconut oil was an awesome option! I also swapped out maple syrup for honey cos I didn't have any maple - but I think they're awesome!! Thank You so much for saving this stir crazy Mama from my sweet free misery AND giving me a great easy recipe for when my little one is old enough to eat sweets :D - Brooke (Victoria - Australia)
