This list was created to help those who are looking for vegan options. Yes, the company itself isn't vegan and prepares/sells non-vegan products. However, the point of this is to show what can be purchased. Hopefully, a push for more vegan products will have a positive influence on these companies. Feel free to add to the list or remove from the list by commenting on this post. Remember, be kind. We don't need those wearing grumpy pants.
If you want to add or remove to the list, make sure attach a quote, link or photo that proves the change.

Someone on a fb page was suggesting that the 'chicken' salt on KFC chips had actual duck in them! Can you shed any light on this? I had always thought the 'chicken' salt was just a flavouring. Now I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteI have read everywhere that the oil is canola oil and the seasoning is vegan and doesn't contain chicken or animal stock so apparently is vegan?
DeleteMy Friend emailed them and they replied to her confirming that the 'Chicken' salt contains duck :(
DeleteThe chicken salt is not vegan!!
DeleteHere's the response KFC gave to me: "The salt mix that KFC uses to season our chips and corn contains an added flavour (derived from chicken). Therefore it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans."
Just a heads up!
Unfortunately KFC Australia posted on their Facebook page that the chips aren't vegan because of the seasoning https://m.facebook.com/KFCAustralia/posts/10154378704913126

ReplyDeleteI've also heard about the duck fat and an email posted on the Adelaide Vegans community confirmed the salt contains animal products
ReplyDeleteRemoved. Thank you!
DeleteMany people do not know why they should not buy the vegan products. The KFC Australia will provide some interesting reviews about their vegan products and the consumers should know about this information. The essay republic will create a high quality environment where the interested people may get involved with the other activities regarding the vegan products.
ReplyDeleteKFC themselves have CONFIRMED there is duck in the 'chicken salt'. It's NOT vegan.

DeleteKFC Australia replied to my enquiry:
ReplyDelete"The salt mix that KFC uses to season our chips and corn contains an added flavour (derived from chicken). Therefore it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans."
KFC CHIPS ARE NOT VEGAN OR EVEN VEGETARIAN (at least for now).
ReplyDeleteJust received a response email and this was confirmed :(
"The salt mix that KFC uses to season our chips contains an added flavour (derived from chicken). Therefore it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans."
They also said: Please note that KFC does change product formulations from time to time, therefore the information above should be checked on a regular basis.

Just been in touch with KFC re chips and seasoning. Got the following reply:
ReplyDelete" I can confirm that our chips are vegan as our KFC stores use canola oil to cook chips and chicken products. The salt mix that KFC uses to season our chips does not contain any animal products. KFC chip suppliers use vegetable oil (canola or sunflower) at their plants. John - Customer Service. "
